At Century Stairs, our entire approach is built around one core idea: using modular, steel-framed stringers to create strong, long-lasting, and visually appealing residential staircases. Over the years, homebuilders across Southwestern Ontario have come to rely on this system—and the many advantages it provides.
Precision-Built for Every Home
To ensure each steel stringer fits perfectly, we start with two key details: your floor-to-floor measurement and finished flooring selections. With this information, we can custom weld every stringer and make precise adjustments for variations in flooring thickness.
Every stringer set is welded onsite using our proprietary jig, allowing our team to install solid, safe, code-compliant stairs within 1–3 days of the floor systems being completed. This rapid installation eliminates the need for builders to construct temporary wood stairs on every project.
Built to Last
Once the welding is complete, each steel stringer receives a protective coat of paint to guard against weather exposure during construction. The steel is then securely attached to headers, floor systems, and framed walls (where available). Using a combination of screws and construction adhesive, we ensure zero vibration, no squeaks, and minimal deflection.
Before moving forward, our team carefully checks that every stringer is level and set at the proper height based on your chosen flooring.
Ready for Safe, Efficient Job Sites
After the steel framework is complete, we install 2×10 spruce treads. Each tread is meticulously levelled and fastened to meet all Ontario Building Code requirements.
At this stage, the builder’s team can install temporary railings—or, for added efficiency and safety, we offer our own steel safety posts which make building temporary railings effortless!
