Welcome to Century Stair Systems!
We’re proud to be your partner in creating a staircase that combines exceptional craftsmanship with timeless design. With decades of experience and a reputation built on quality, we’re here to guide you through each step of the process. Here’s what to expect during your new home stair project:
Step 1: Getting Your Estimate
Getting started is simple. For new home builds, we can provide an estimate once we receive your construction plans. Our quotes are typically accurate within 10% of the final project cost. For renovation projects, a few photos of your existing staircase emailed to us at centurystairs@gmail.com will allow us to prepare an estimate.
Step 2: Steel Frame Installation with Temporary Treads
For new builds, one of the key advantages of working with Century is our steel frame stair system. Once the floor joists are complete, we install steel stringers with 2×10 temporary treads—usually within 1 to 3 days of measuring. This gives all trades a safe, code-compliant staircase to use throughout the construction process.
We also offer utility or carpet-grade stairs, typically delivered within 3–4 days after measuring.
Step 3: Standard Selections & Showroom Visit
Our standard package includes:
- Red oak treads, risers, posts, and handrails
- Wrought iron pickets
- Over 30 stain shades in our red oak line
Once your quote is approved, you’ll schedule a visit to our showroom to make your selections. We recommend bringing a sample of your flooring to help match your staircase finish to the rest of your home.
Step 4: Explore Material Upgrades
During your showroom visit, you’ll have the chance to explore material upgrades and customize your staircase to suit your style and budget.
- Hickory – A popular, durable hardwood (30% harder than oak) with beautiful natural grain.
- Maple – Elegant with minimal grain, though more prone to visible scratches.
- White Oak – A light, trendy finish that’s highly sought-after but comes at a premium price.
We also include matching hardwood for your staircase landing, stained and finished with the same care as the treads and rails for a seamless, furniture-like appearance.
Step 5: Production Process
After finalizing your selections, we custom order all materials—typically arriving in 3 to 4 weeks. Every piece is:
- Hand-sanded with fine grit for a smooth, defect-free finish
- Hand-stained and finished with three coats of spray lacquer
- Carefully inspected to achieve our signature cabinet-quality finish
Step 6: Installation Day
Installation typically occurs about two months after your selection appointment and is scheduled for 1 to 2 days.
We’re one of the final trades in your home before possession—usually 3–4 weeks before closing—minimizing traffic and risk of damage. Our skilled installers:
- Unwrap and custom-fit every component on-site
- Laminate treads, risers, and stringers using a premium glue for a squeak-free finish
- Ensure minimal disruption, with significantly less odor than on-site staining and spraying
Thank you for choosing Century Stair Systems—we look forward to bringing your vision to life!
